Imee Marcos opposes Remulla's Ombudsman bid, cites VP Sara Duterte plot

Senator Imee Marcos announced she will oppose Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin "Boying" Remulla's bid for the Ombudsman position.

Marcos alleges that Remulla's nomination is a strategy to disqualify or imprison Vice President Sara Duterte and her allies before the 2028 presidential race.

Malacañang, through Presidential Communications Undersecretary Claire Castro, questioned Senator Marcos' agenda, asking if she desires an ombudsman who would refrain from filing charges against the Dutertes and their allies.

Castro stated that if the Dutertes have committed no crimes, Marcos should not be worried.

Remulla stated he would ask the Ombudsman's office to resolve a complaint Marcos previously filed against him concerning the arrest and turnover of former president Rodrigo Duterte to the International Criminal Court.

Castro advised Marcos to "recalibrate her crystal ball" and rely on evidence rather than rumors.
