Imee Marcos claims siblings use illegal drugs; Palace calls it desperate move

Senator Imee Marcos has accused her brother, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., and his wife Liza of illegal drug use.

Malacañang, through Presidential Communications Undersecretary Claire Castro, dismissed the claim as a "desperate move" and an attempt to malign the First Couple.

Castro stated that the allegations are baseless and a rehashed issue, citing the President's negative drug test at St. Luke's Medical Center in 2021.

The Palace questioned Senator Marcos' motives, suggesting it might be to deflect from an ongoing corruption investigation that could affect her allies in the Senate.

Castro also questioned why Senator Marcos did not previously call out former president Rodrigo Duterte for admitting drug use and alleged corruption.
