Ilocos Norte sends aid to Taal eruption victims

The province of Ilocos Norte has sent a truckload of relief goods and financial aid to assist families affected by the Taal Volcano eruption in Batangas.

The shipment included canned goods for over 2,000 families, 480 3-liter bottles of mineral water, and 300 N95 face masks.

An undisclosed amount of monetary assistance was also given to the provincial government of Batangas.

The eruption, which began on January 12, caused widespread ashfall, adversely affecting and displacing thousands of families in Batangas, Cavite, and Laguna.

Governor Matthew Joseph Manotoc ordered the sending of the aid, emphasizing the Ilokano spirit of unity.

The provincial government's initiative was supported by collections from various non-government organizations and private groups within Ilocos Norte.
