IATF suspends LSI travel to Western Visayas, Iligan, Lanao del Sur

The Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) has temporarily suspended the travel of Locally Stranded Individuals (LSIs) to Western Visayas, Iligan City, and Lanao del Sur to curb the spread of COVID-19.

This travel ban will be in effect for 14 days, from September 7 to September 21, 2020.

The decision was made following requests from local government units and the endorsement of NTF Against COVID-19 chief implementer Carlito Galvez Jr.

The suspension comes as President Rodrigo Duterte placed Bacolod City, a key city in Western Visayas, and Lanao del Sur under a stricter Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine (MECQ) until September 30.

Iligan City will also be under MECQ until the end of the month.

Galvez recommended the MECQ status for Bacolod and Lanao del Sur due to an observed rise in infections in these areas.
