House to hold memorial service for late Rep. Romeo Acop

The House of Representatives will hold a memorial service on December 29, 2025, at the Plenary Hall for the late Antipolo City 2nd District Representative Romeo Acop.

Acop, 78, passed away due to a heart attack.

During his service, Acop was vice chairperson of the House Quad Committee and was instrumental in investigations into Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators and the war on drugs.

These inquiries led to the proposed Anti-Extrajudicial Killing Act and the Civil Forfeiture Act.

He also investigated a person named "Mary Grace Piattos" whose signature appeared on confidential fund acknowledgement receipts of offices under Vice President Sara Duterte.

Acop served as representative for Antipolo City's 2nd District during the 15th, 16th, 17th, 19th, and 20th Congresses.

Prior to his political career, Acop served as Chief Director of the Philippine National Police-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group.

Speaker Faustino Dy III remembered Acop as an honest, courageous public servant with strong convictions.
