Representative Datol Jr. is the fifth House member to contract the virus, following Deputy Speaker Mujiv Hataman and Representatives Johnny Pimentel, Henry Villarica, and Samier Tan.

The number of COVID infections among House members and employees have practically doubled since July 27, with 22 new cases recorded in the last 21 days.

As of August 16, the Philippines has a total of 161,253 COVID-19 cases, including 2,665 deaths and 112,586 recoveries.
