House members consider impeachment complaint vs VP Sara Duterte

Several members of the House of Representatives, particularly from the majority bloc, are considering filing or endorsing impeachment complaints against Vice President Sara Duterte.

House Secretary-General Reginald Velasco confirmed that around 10 majority solons intend to endorse at least one of the impeachment complaints against the Vice President.

A fourth impeachment complaint against Duterte may be filed at the House of Representatives next week, according to House Secretary General Reginald Velasco.

House Assistant Majority Leader Jude Acidre sees the possibility of a fourth impeachment complaint as a logical and proper outcome after the investigation into the utilization of confidential funds by the offices led by VP Duterte.

Three existing impeachment complaints against the Vice President are still pending, with allegations including graft, corruption, bribery, and betrayal of public trust, all mentioning alleged irregularities in confidential fund use.

Vice President Duterte has previously stated she never misused public funds and claims the impeachment is a political attack against her.

House Deputy Minority Leader France Castro revealed that the complaints had made no progress as they had not yet reached the Speaker's Office nor the Committee on Justice, pending Secretary General Reginald Velasco's go-signal.

Velasco admitted that the House of Representatives' legal department is conducting an ongoing review of the merits of the case.
