House leaders say no impeachment vs VP Sara Duterte on agenda

House leaders asserted that no impeachment proceedings against Vice President Sara Duterte are on their agenda, emphasizing their focus on investigating the use of confidential funds.

This statement comes after President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. confirmed he had asked lawmakers not to pursue impeachment complaints against the Vice President, deeming it unnecessary and a "waste of time."

However, House leaders also acknowledged that the chamber is duty-bound to consider any impeachment complaints that may be filed, as the President's preference cannot stop the House from acting on complaints.

Despite the President's appeal, the House minority has confirmed that an impeachment complaint against Vice President Sara Duterte is set to be filed in December by Bayan Muna, with the Makabayan bloc committed to endorsing it.

The impeachment talk intensified following Duterte's controversial remarks alleging a plot to assassinate her and her subsequent statement about retaliatory actions against Marcos, the First Lady, and House Speaker Martin Romualdez, which she claims were "maliciously taken out of logical context."
