House forms 134-person secretariat for VP Sara impeachment trial

The House of Representatives has formed a 134-person Impeachment Secretariat to provide technical and administrative support to prosecutors in the impeachment trial of Vice President Sara Duterte.

House Secretary General Reginald Velasco confirmed the deployment through a memorandum order released on February 28.

The secretariat personnel are drawn from various offices including the Office of the Secretary General, Sergeant-at-Arms, Legislative Operations Department, and Legal Affairs Department.

These units will provide support on a rotation basis, with their schedules to be determined by their respective office heads.

Key support functions will include plenary support, legal research, records management, stenographic transcription, IT support, security, and administrative coordination.

Velasco highlighted the secretariat's crucial role in ensuring the orderly conduct of impeachment trials and facilitating a smooth and efficient process.
