House files new P247-B Bayanihan 3 proposal

A new proposal for a third Bayanihan Law, dubbed the Bayanihan to Rebuild as One Act, has been filed in the House of Representatives, outlining P247 billion in interventions for emergency response and economic recovery.

The bill, filed by House Majority Leader Martin Romualdez, AAMBIS-OWA Representative Sharon Garin, and Ways and Means Chair Joey Salceda, aims to help the country recover from recent typhoons and the slow economic growth in the third quarter.

This proposal comes as another version of Bayanihan 3, the Bayanihan to Arise as One Act, was previously filed by Marikina City Representative Stella Quimbo, which proposes P400 billion in aid.

Representative Salceda emphasized that the proposed interventions are intended to enable national and local government units to implement strong response and recovery programs.

He also noted that a third Bayanihan law might not be necessary if the country's economic recovery exceeds expectations in the third quarter.
