House adopts resolution honoring the late Rep Edcel Lagman

The House of Representatives adopted House Resolution No. 2214, in consolidation with HR Nos. 2211 and 2212, to express condolences to the family of the late Albay Representative Edcel Lagman.

The resolution described the late lawmaker as a longtime advocate for human rights, champion of reproductive health, labor rights, agrarian reform, the urban poor, and a strong defender of the rule of law.

Speaker Martin Romualdez praised Lagman for his sharp intellect, unwavering principles, and deep commitment to his causes, noting that his dedication to human rights, good governance, and social justice was undeniable.

Lagman, who served eight terms as representative for the First District of Albay, passed away on January 30 at the age of 82 due to cardiac arrest.

At the time of his death, Lagman was president of the Liberal Party, chairman emeritus of the Philippine Legislators Committee on Population and Development, and a newspaper columnist.
