Habagat to bring rains to western PH; Shanshan monitored

The Southwest Monsoon, locally known as habagat, is expected to bring cloudy skies and scattered rain showers to the western parts of Southern Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao on Saturday.

PAGASA is also closely monitoring Severe Tropical Storm Shanshan, which is currently located outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility.

Shanshan, with maximum sustained winds of 110 kph and gustiness of up to 135 kph, is moving northward at 15 kph approximately 2,055 kilometers east of Central Luzon.

Regions including MIMAROPA, Western Visayas, Negros Island Region, Zamboanga Peninsula, Basilan, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi may experience moderate to heavy rains, increasing the risk of flash floods and landslides.

Metro Manila and other parts of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to localized weather patterns.

Severe Tropical Storm Shanshan will be named 'Enteng' once it enters the Philippine Area of Responsibility.
