GSIS expands emergency loan to more Luzon, Metro Manila areas

The Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) has expanded its emergency loan program to include more areas in Luzon and Metro Manila affected by Severe Tropical Storm Crising and the enhanced southwest monsoon.

Active GSIS members and pensioners in Cainta, San Mateo, and Montalban in Rizal; Malabon, Marikina, Las Piñas, Navotas, and Valenzuela in Metro Manila; Agoncillo in Batangas; Balagtas in Bulacan; Malasiqui and Dagupan City in Pangasinan; Roxas in Palawan; and the provinces of Bataan and Pampanga can apply until October 24, 2025.

Other areas previously eligible for the loan include Cavite, Quezon City, Umingan in Pangasinan, Calumpit in Bulacan, and Manila.

Active members can borrow up to P40,000 with an existing emergency loan or P20,000 for first-time borrowers at a 6 percent annual interest rate, payable over three years.

To qualify, active members must be in active service, not on leave, have no pending cases, have paid at least six monthly premiums, and have a net take-home pay of at least P5,000.

Old-age and disability pensioners may also apply if their net monthly pension after deductions is at least 25 percent of their total pension.

GSIS officer-in-charge Juliet Bautista stated that this expansion is part of their commitment to provide immediate relief to affected members and pensioners.

The GSIS is also urging members and pensioners to file their applications digitally for faster processing.
