Gordon wants PSG commander to resign over unregistered COVID-19 vaccine use

Senator Richard Gordon urged the Presidential Security Group (PSG) commander Brigadier General Jesus Durante III to consider resigning due to the illegal use of an unregistered COVID-19 vaccine on his troops.

Gordon believes Durante, as the commanding officer, is responsible and that the PSG's inoculation broke the law against smuggling as no COVID-19 vaccine had received approval from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) at that time.

He stated that Durante should have requested an emergency use authorization from the FDA before the vaccinations were administered.

Durante previously confirmed that his unit received the COVID-19 vaccine without cost upon their request and that President Duterte was informed only after the fact.

He also mentioned that the PSG members were vaccinated as a measure to protect the President from the virus.

Gordon now wants those involved in the vaccination to be investigated and penalized, emphasizing that there is no excuse for such an action.

Senate President Vicente Sotto III suggested that Durante should be invited to a separate hearing regarding the vaccine rollout plan.
