Go urges immediate aid for informal workers, vulnerable sectors

Senator Christopher "Bong" Go urged government agencies to utilize existing programs to provide immediate aid to informal workers and vulnerable sectors heavily impacted by the enhanced community quarantine.

Go emphasized that assistance should prioritize senior citizens, persons with disabilities, pregnant and lactating women, solo parents, and indigent indigenous peoples.

Informal economy workers, including transport group members and transport network vehicle service drivers, should also receive aid due to the suspension of their operations.

He recommended leveraging the Department of Social Welfare and Development's (DSWD) Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) program, food and non-food item distribution, and Livelihood Assistance Grants.

Go suggested that local government units (LGUs), with support from the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and the Philippine National Police (PNP), should help distribute aid safely to people's homes.

He stressed that government resources should be used efficiently to help those most affected by the crisis.

The senator highlighted that government services and assistance to Filipinos should continue uninterrupted during this challenging time.

Go called for unity among all to protect the welfare of all Filipinos, particularly the vulnerable sectors facing livelihood challenges.
