Ginebra, SMB face off for solo second place

Barangay Ginebra and San Miguel are set for a PBA Philippine Cup clash on Friday, April 25, at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Ginebra, coming off a 101-80 victory against Terrafirma Dyip in their season debut where Japeth Aguilar scored 30 points and Scottie Thompson achieved 500 steals, is looking to improve their performance.

Coach Tim Cone acknowledged that while the team played solid against Terrafirma, they were sloppy at times and need to tighten things up for the upcoming game.

San Miguel, with a 2-1 record, has had the advantage of playing more games this season compared to Ginebra, who is still finding their rhythm after a 26-day break.

The marquee encounter, set for 7:30 p.m., is crucial as both teams vie for solo second place in the standings, with Magnolia leading at 3-0.

Coach Cone identified June Mar Fajardo as a primary challenge for Ginebra and stressed the importance of containing him and San Miguel's shooters.
