Greg Gasataya elected new mayor of Bacolod City

Greg Gasataya has been elected as the new mayor of Bacolod City, defeating outgoing Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran.

Gasataya, a congressman for three terms, is among the Team Asenso candidates who dominated the midterm elections.

Outgoing Bacolod Mayor Albee Benitez is returning to Congress after winning the race for the city's lone congressional district.

Councilor Claudio Jesus Puentevella emerged victorious in the vice mayoral race against fellow councilor Renecito Novero.

The City Board of Canvassers proclaimed the winners at the Bacolod City Government Center.

Gasataya thanked the people of Bacolod for the trust and decision to let them lead the city, stating, "The process was long and hard. This is the fruit of our hard work for so many years."

Benitez expressed his humility regarding the people's trust and stated, "From City Hall to Congress, I carry with me the same commitment to uplift lives, push for meaningful reforms, and fight for what Bacolod deserves."
