Galeries Tower upsets Cignal, advances to PVL quarterfinals

Galeries Tower secured a quarterfinals berth in the Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference by defeating the Cignal HD Spikers in a stunning upset.

The 10th-seeded Highrisers surprised their third-seeded opponents with a 25-17, 25-22, 19-25, 25-19 victory, relegating Cignal to the play-in phase.

Ysa Jimenez and France Elize Ronaquillo led the team with 23 and 20 points, respectively, with Jimenez also being named Player of the Game.

This marks the best finish for Galeries Tower in the PVL since joining as an expansion team two years ago.

Head coach Lerma Giron cited trust and belief in each other as the key to their biggest victory, emphasizing team effort over individual star power.

Giron called the win a 'milestone' that her players will cherish, highlighting the team's perseverance despite a 1-11 preliminary record.
