Fontana Leisure Park closed after illegal COVID-19 hospital discovered

The Clark Development Corporation (CDC) ordered the closure and full lockdown of the Fontana Resorts and Leisure Park after a villa was discovered to be illegally operating as a seven-bed underground hospital for Chinese COVID-19 patients.

The operation was conducted by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) Region 3, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and the CDC.

Two Chinese nationals, Ling Hu and pharmacist Seung-Hyun Lee, were arrested during the raid and are now detained at Camp Olivas, Pampanga.

The COVID-19 patient found inside the makeshift facility has been transferred to a legitimate medical facility.

The FDA confirmed that no facility in the park had a permit to operate as a medical institution, and unregistered medicines were confiscated.

The CDC condemned the illegal activity, emphasizing the danger it posed and assuring that those involved would be prosecuted.
