Filipino rower Joanie Delgaco finishes 20th in Paris Olympics

Filipino rower Joanie Delgaco finished 20th overall in the women's single sculls at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

In Final D, Delgaco recorded her fastest time of the Games, 7:43.83, to finish second, securing the 20th position.

She made history as the first-ever female rower from the Philippines to qualify for the Olympic Games.

Delgaco emerged as the best Southeast Asian rower in the Games, finishing ahead of Vietnam's Thi Hue Pham.

Following her Olympic debut, Delgaco was offered an Olympic Solidarity Scholarship by FISA Development Head Daniela Gomes, who praised her performance.

This scholarship will financially and technically prepare her for future games.

Her strong performance also means the Philippine Rowing Association will receive additional support from the Philippine Sports Commission, with recommendations for expanded national team slots in rowing.
