Ex-QC rep willing to spill details on flood control anomalies

Ombudsman Jesus Crispin Remulla announced that a former Quezon City representative has expressed willingness to reveal details of his involvement and name individuals implicated in alleged anomalies in flood control projects.

Remulla stated that the former lawmaker wants to explain how the scheme operated, adding that the law will take its course.

The whistleblower's offer comes weeks after Remulla signed an immigration lookout bulletin order (ILBO) on four of Quezon City's representatives.

The four lawmakers named in the ILBO request are Arjo Atayde, Patrick Michael Vargas, Marivic Co-Pilar, and Marvin Rillo, who are being investigated by the Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) for alleged anomalies in flood-control contracts.

This development follows Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte's earlier statement regarding at least 35 missing flood control projects in the city.

Ombudsman Remulla also voiced serious concern about a recent fire incident at the DPWH Quezon City office.

Remulla mentioned that plea bargains may be considered for individuals who cooperate with investigators and help expose corrupt activities.

The Ombudsman is also working to identify patterns of bid-rigging in government projects, where losing bidders allegedly profit by collecting a share from contractors who secure the deals.
