Former Iloilo mayor surrenders to NBI over graft charges

Former Iloilo City Mayor Jed Mabilog surrendered to the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3 upon his arrival in Manila.

He was processed by NBI operatives and subsequently posted bail over the graft charges filed against him.

The charges stem from an alleged intervention in a government contract award to a towing services firm.

Mabilog will be brought to the Sandiganbayan for the return of his arrest warrant, despite having posted bail.

Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla stated that the NBI ensured Mabilog would follow legal procedures upon his return.

The Department of Justice also plans to question Mabilog regarding his alleged involvement in the drug trade.
