Ex-DPWH chief Bonoan still not back in PHL

Former Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Manuel Bonoan has not yet returned to the Philippines as of December 18, 2025, missing his scheduled return date.

The Bureau of Immigration (BI) confirmed there is no record of Bonoan's arrival in the country.

Malacañang stated that authorities are not yet tracing Bonoan's whereabouts, as he is considered a private individual.

Bonoan, who is under an Immigration Lookout Bulletin, left the Philippines for the United States on November 11, 2025, reportedly to assist his wife with a medical procedure.

His departure occurred while investigations are ongoing into alleged anomalies concerning flood control projects during his tenure as DPWH secretary.

The Department of Justice previously stated that Bonoan could travel freely in the absence of a hold departure order.

Palace Press Officer Claire Castro noted that if a case can be filed against Bonoan, he will likely be summoned.
