MILF chair Ebrahim declines BTA parliament appointment

Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) Chairman Ahod Balawag Ebrahim declined his appointment to the Bangsamoro Transition Authority (BTA) parliament.

Ebrahim, who served as BARMM's interim chief minister since 2019, thanked President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. for the appointment but respectfully declined it.

President Marcos swore in newly appointed members of the BTA, including Ebrahim and more than 70 other regional lawmakers, at Malacañang.

Abdulrauf Macacua has been designated as BARMM's new chief minister.

Ebrahim officially welcomed Macacua and expressed full support, confirming he will remain as MILF chairman and offer guidance to the new administration.

Both Ebrahim and Macacua thanked President Marcos Jr. for his support of the peace process.
