Escudero tells senators to avoid impeachment talk

Senate President Francis "Chiz" Escudero advised his colleagues in the Upper Chamber to refrain from issuing remarks regarding supposed impeachment moves against Vice President Sara Duterte.

Escudero emphasized that any discussion or rumors about impeachment outside the Senate are irrelevant and that senators should not preemptively comment on cases that may reach their chamber.

He stated that if an impeachment complaint reaches the Senate, they will act as magistrates and it would be improper for any senator to have already pre-judged the case.

Escudero himself refrained from commenting on the matter, quoting that it's not good for any member of the Senate to preemptively tackle any issue or impeachment that may land on their desks.
