ERC probes Siquijor power outages

The Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) has launched a formal inquiry into the persistent power outages in Siquijor province, which have disrupted daily life, businesses, and tourism.

The ERC has summoned PROSIELCO, SIPCOR, and NPC to a public hearing on July 3rd in Pasig City to address the persistent blackouts.

ERC chairperson and CEO Monalisa C. Dimalanta stated that the hearing is part of the ERC's commitment to uphold accountability, enforce compliance, and ensure reliable power service for Siquijor's consumers.

She added that the Commission is determined to find long-term solutions and ensure contractual commitments are delivered and services are improved.

The ERC is also reviewing PROSIELCO and SIPCOR's compliance with their Power Supply Agreements, approved in 2012 and granted interim relief in 2019.
