Ejercito wants Senate flood control probe moved to ICI

Senator JV Ejercito suggested that the Senate should transfer its investigation into anomalies in flood control projects to the Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) due to a perceived conflict of interest.

Ejercito believes it is awkward for the Senate to investigate its own members and believes the ICI would be a more suitable body for the probe.

He expressed concern that the Senate investigation might be diverting attention from the initial orchestrators of the alleged scheme, pointing to potential involvement of Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) officials and individuals from the House of Representatives.

Ejercito feels that the real culprits are potentially being covered up in the ongoing investigation.

Regarding the reported P100 billion in budget insertions by the 19th Congress into the proposed 2025 General Appropriations Act (GAA), Ejercito defended the practice, stating it only became controversial due to the flood control probe.
