Duterte's schedule to continue despite new COVID-19 cases

Malacañang confirmed that President Duterte's schedule, including public engagements, will continue as planned despite two new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the Philippines.

Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo stated that President Duterte, known for his disregard for personal safety, will proceed with his commitments unless advised otherwise by the Presidential Security Group (PSG).

The President has previously expressed that he is not inclined to limit his public appearances and will not limit interactions with people as a precautionary measure against the virus.

He also mentioned that as the country's leader, he cannot avoid public interactions and shaking hands with people.

Duterte is scheduled to visit Boracay on March 12 to support domestic tourism.

Panelo could not confirm if the President would alter his use of helicopters, citing Duterte's preference for speed and efficiency, and the recent crash involving PNP chief Archie Gamboa.
