Duterte Youth files SC petition to stop Comelec ruling on registration nullification

The Duterte Youth party-list has filed a petition with the Supreme Court (SC) seeking to halt the Commission on Elections (Comelec) from enforcing its ruling that upheld the nullification of the party's registration.

The group is asking the SC to issue a temporary restraining order (TRO), a writ of preliminary injunction, and a status quo ante order to restore their registration.

In a 34-page petition, Duterte Youth argued that the Comelec's rulings were issued with "grave abuse of discretion amounting to lack or excess of jurisdiction."

The Comelec had previously voided Duterte Youth's registration in June 2025 for failing to comply with jurisdictional requirements of publication and hearing, a decision later upheld by the Comelec en banc on August 29.

Comelec chairperson George Garcia stated that the filing of the petition was "completely expected."
