Duterte to get second Sinopharm dose after EUA

President Rodrigo Duterte will receive his second dose of the Sinopharm COVID-19 vaccine.

This follows the Food and Drug Administration's (FDA) issuance of an Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) for Sinopharm vaccines.

Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque confirmed that the President's second dose was pending the EUA.

Duterte received his first Sinopharm dose on May 3, prior to the vaccine securing an EUA.

Initially, the FDA had only issued a compassionate use license for 10,000 Sinopharm doses for the Presidential Security Group (PSG).

China had donated additional Sinopharm doses, on top of the initial 10,000 vials for PSG personnel.

President Duterte had previously ordered the pullout of Sinopharm vaccines on May 6 due to concerns over the lack of FDA clearance.
