Duterte increases vaccine allocation to provinces amid COVID-19 surge

President Duterte announced that major provinces will receive increased COVID-19 vaccine allocations due to a surge in positive cases.

Provinces such as Cebu, Cagayan, and Zamboanga are among those that will benefit from the new vaccine distribution plan.

The President noted the spike in cases in these provinces, attributing it to a lack of belief and continued transmission.

He also mentioned the challenge posed by new variants of the virus, but expressed optimism regarding the effectiveness of available vaccines.

Previously, the majority of vaccine supply was prioritized for the NCR Plus bubble, identified as the epicenter of the outbreak.

The shift in allocation aims to address outbreaks in other key provinces experiencing a rise in infections due to new virus strains and variants.
