Philippines receives 1 million more CoronaVac doses from China

An additional one million doses of CoronaVac vaccines, the ninth shipment from China, arrived in the Philippines on Sunday, June 6, 2021.

Cebu Pacific carried this fresh batch of one million vaccine doses from Beijing using a chartered A330 flight, marking its fourth vaccine shipment from China.

Vaccine Czar Carlito Galvez Jr. expressed optimism that the continuous airlifting of vaccines will help inoculate a sizeable amount of the population.

This delivery brings the total number of CoronaVac doses received by the Philippines to 6.5 million, and the total vaccine supply to 9.3 million.

These vaccines will be distributed in areas with high COVID-19 cases, including Metro Manila, Zamboanga, Cagayan de Oro, Butuan, and provinces in Western Visayas.

Cebu Pacific has transported 3.5 million vaccine doses from China to Manila and over 1.1 million doses to various parts of the Philippines since March, while PAL has flown 2.4 million vaccine doses from overseas and about a million doses domestically.
