Duterte discusses Ukraine invasion's local impact

President Rodrigo Duterte convened a special meeting with Cabinet and security officials to discuss the local implications of Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

Businessmen and civilians were also invited to the meeting for an exchange of ideas.

Acting Presidential Spokesperson Karlo Nograles stated that parts of the discussion might be aired or a statement released after the meeting due to its sensitivity and national security implications.

The President's goal is to ensure the public is well-informed about the current invasion of Russia in Ukraine.

The Philippines voted yes to a United Nations General Assembly resolution expressing explicit condemnation of the Russian attack on Ukraine.

The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) sought an end to the fighting and appealed for the protection of civilians and civilian infrastructure.
