DSWD starts SAP 2nd tranche distribution to cover NCR

The distribution of the second tranche of the Social Amelioration Program (SAP) cash aid has begun, with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) planning to cover other areas, including the National Capital Region (NCR), in the coming days.

Areas placed under Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) and Modified ECQ, such as Cebu City and Talisay City, are included in this second phase.

The DSWD previously distributed over P6.74 billion in second tranche subsidies to more than 1.3 million Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) beneficiaries who are cash card holders.

Pilot payout activities on June 16 saw 266 families from Kapangan, Benguet, and 290 families from Baguio City receive P5,500 each.

The agency expects to provide subsidies to around 17 million family-beneficiaries in total for the second tranche, which includes five million waitlisted beneficiaries and 12 million families in ECQ areas.

The total amount of cash aid for both the first and second implementation of SAP is P211 billion.
