DSWD: Cash-for-work program to benefit 14,000 people affected by oil spill
The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) will launch a cash-for-work program on March 15 for approximately 14,000 individuals affected by the oil spill off Naujan, Oriental Mindoro.
Fisherfolk affected by the fishing ban, Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) members, and other indigent individuals will be prioritized.
The program, which will last for 15 days initially, offers participants P355 daily, equivalent to the minimum wage in Mimaropa, and can be extended if necessary.
DSWD is currently validating and verifying the list of potential beneficiaries.
In addition to the cash-for-work program, emergency cash transfers will be provided to over 1,000 individuals in Agutaya, Palawan, also affected by the oil spill.
