DSWD Bicol provides P150M aid to families affected by STS Kristine

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Bicol has provided nearly PHP150 million in relief assistance to families affected by Severe Tropical Storm Kristine in the region as of Monday morning.

This assistance includes the distribution of family food packs, gallons of water, essential non-food relief items, and financial aid to affected communities, displaced families, and stranded passengers.

DSWD Secretary Rex Gatchalian and President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. had previously directed the immediate and unassisted relief for those affected.

Regional Director Norman Laurio mentioned that SWADOs and QRTs are coordinating with LGUs for status reports, and the agency is committed to reaching all affected families.

Secretary Gatchalian had personally visited evacuation centers in Camarines Sur to check on displaced persons and oversee relief distribution.

Large quantities of family food packs are arriving via trucks in Naga City and Legazpi City, with more expected at the Bicol International Airport.
