Rep. Benitez asks DPWH chief to go on leave during probe

Bacolod Lone District Representative Albee Benitez has urged Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Manuel Bonoan to take a leave of absence during the ongoing probe into "failed" flood control projects.

Benitez stated that the leave is out of delicadeza and to help preserve the integrity of the inquiry.

Secretary Bonoan expressed his willingness to go on leave, saying, "If it is necessary, bakit hindi po?"

Manila Mayor Isko Moreno suggested that flood control projects should be turned over to local government units, to which Bonoan responded positively if they have the resources.

House Committee on Public Accounts Chairman Terry Ridon announced that the committee is preparing to hold hearings on all infrastructure projects, including flood control and drainage, in the country.
