DOTr to complete 12 relocation sites in Naic by December

The Department of Transportation (DOTr) is accelerating the construction of 12 relocation sites in Naic, Cavite, to house families affected by the North-South Commuter Railway (NSCR) project, with completion targeted by December.

These 12 buildings, part of 82 three-storey structures funded by the DOTr, will accommodate 360 families.

DOTr Assistant Secretary for Right-of-Way and Site Acquisition IC Calaguas and Naic City Administrator Rodolfo Uy III visited the site and assured it is complete with facilities, including a school, day care centers, rural health centers, and covered courts.

The DOTr is also preparing to bid out the operations and maintenance contract for the NSCR, valued at P250 billion, with an award expected by mid-2026.

The 190-kilometer NSCR project, co-financed by the Japan International Cooperation Agency and the Asian Development Bank, links Calamba, Laguna, to Clark, Pampanga, and is set to be finished by 2032.

Upon completion, the railway aims to significantly cut travel time to less than two hours and serve an estimated 800,000 passengers daily.
