New concourses for EDSA busway eyed by 2026
The Department of Transportation (DOTr) plans to construct dedicated concourses for each of the 23 stops of the EDSA busway from Monumento to Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX) to improve accessibility.
Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon stated that these concourses will provide dedicated entrances for the EDSA busway, eliminating the need for commuters to use Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT-3) stations.
The DOTr will emulate the design of concourses being built by the SM Group near its malls in Ortigas and North Avenue.
The bidding for the projects is expected to start in May, with civil works commencing in the second half of the year.
The DOTr aims to have the busway concourses completed by the first quarter of 2026, serving an estimated 177,000 daily commuters.
Additional stops are also planned for the southern portion of the busway to accommodate commuters from Makati, Pasay, and Parañaque.
