DOTr Sec. Dizon asks for courtesy resignations from central office execs

Department of Transportation (DOTr) Secretary Vince Dizon ordered undersecretaries, assistant secretaries, and directors in the central office to submit courtesy resignations by February 26, 2025.

Dizon stated that this is a standard memo when there is a change in leadership in government, allowing the new chief flexibility to build their team.

This directive applies only to the DOTr's central office and does not extend to its attached agencies or government-owned and controlled corporations.

Dizon officially took over as DOTr Secretary on February 21, 2025.

On February 26 and 27, Dizon swore into office new senior officials, many of whom served under former Secretary Arthur Tugade, to replace those who submitted courtesy resignations.

Notable appointments include Giovanni Lopez as undersecretary for Administration, Finance, and Procurement; Mark Steven Pastor as undersecretary for Road Transport and Infrastructure; and Jim Sydiongco as undersecretary for Aviation and Airports.

One of Dizon's first actions was suspending the reimplementation of cashless toll collection in expressways, a decision supported by Metro Pacific Tollways Corp. (MPTC).
