LTO revokes license of UV Express driver in Commonwealth road crash
The Department of Transportation (DOTr) has permanently revoked the license of a UV Express driver, Ruel Flores Dela Cerna, who caused a fatal accident along Commonwealth Avenue in Quezon City.
The incident resulted in the death of one motorist and injuries to three others after Dela Cerna's vehicle crashed into 14 motorbikes.
Investigations by the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) and the Land Transportation Office (LTO) revealed that Dela Cerna had used illegal drugs hours before the incident.
Acting Transportation Secretary Giovanni Lopez stated that the DOTr aims to ensure such irresponsible drivers are removed from the road permanently.
Dela Cerna is currently in police custody and faces multiple charges related to the incident.
Lopez also directed the LTFRB to strictly enforce mandatory drug testing for public transport drivers and to expedite the completion of related rules and regulations.
