DOT vaccinates 1,000 tourism workers in Pampanga

The Department of Tourism (DOT) has launched a two-day vaccination drive in Pampanga targeting 1,000 active tourism workers.

The initiative, held on August 12 and 13, was a collaboration between the DOT regional office in Central Luzon, the Pampanga provincial government, the City of San Fernando, Angeles City, and SM Supermalls.

A total of 1,000 tourism workers were inoculated across two locations: SM City San Fernando and SM City Clark.

Vaccinated individuals included those involved in the management and maintenance of isolation and quarantine hotels, restaurants, leisure areas, and other tourism-related establishments.

Tourism Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat stated that vaccinating tourism workers is crucial for the industry's recovery and to combat new COVID-19 variants.

Mayor Edwin Santiago of San Fernando emphasized that the vaccination serves as protection for tourism workers as they aim to re-open tourism in the province.
