3,760 more Bohol tourism workers to get vaxxed

An additional 3,760 tourism workers in Bohol will receive COVID-19 vaccines as the province holds its second vaccination rollout, bringing the total inoculated tourism workers to 9,920, or 76% of the target.

The vaccine delivery for this rollout includes 5,000 Sinovac and 2,520 Moderna doses, with plans for an additional 10,000 Pfizer and 5,000 Sinovac doses to arrive soon.

Tourism workers eligible for vaccination include those in quarantine facilities, DOT-accredited hotels and resorts, tour guides, and employees in travel agencies, tour operators, transport, restaurants, and MICE businesses.

The Department of Tourism (DOT) also intends to vaccinate individuals in tourism support services, such as tricycle drivers and massage therapists, with the arrival of more vaccines.

Bohol has seen a significant increase in DOT-accredited enterprises, with 402 establishments as of July 31, a 148.88% jump from the previous year.

Secretary Berna Romulo-Puyat urged all eligible individuals to get vaccinated to protect themselves, their loved ones, and their communities, aiming to restore Bohol's status as a top tourist destination.

Several resorts and spas in Bohol, particularly on Panglao Island, have also earned the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) Safe Travels Stamp.
