OFWs subsidy program receives additional P1B
The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) has received an additional P1 billion for its Abot Kamay ang Pagtulong (AKAP) program for overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) affected by the COVID-19 crisis.

Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III confirmed that the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) granted the additional funds, though it falls short of the P2.5 billion DOLE requested.
DOLE will continue accepting applications for the AKAP program, which provides P10,000 in one-time financial aid to displaced land-based and sea-based OFWs.
As of Wednesday, over 411,000 OFWs have applied, and more than 100,000 applications have been approved.
