Sotto awaits Lacson's input on Discaya couple's state witness bid

Senate President Vicente "Tito" Sotto III is awaiting further discussion with Senator Panfilo "Ping" Lacson before deciding on the Discaya couple's bid to become state witnesses.

The Discaya couple admitted to bribing public officials and implicated congressmen, their staff, and DPWH officials in corrupt practices related to flood control projects.

The Department of Justice (DOJ) is discussing the Discaya couple's offer, with spokesperson Mico Clavano noting their potential qualification depends on them not being the most guilty and their testimony being absolutely necessary.

However, Clavano also stated that based on their statements, the Discayas appear to have been co-conspirators from the start.

In contrast, House Infrastructure Committee co-chair Terry Ridon stated that the Discaya couple has "absolutely no chance" of becoming state witnesses, asserting they are as guilty as the DPWH engineers and politicians involved in ghost and substandard projects.
