Probe on officials involved in Alice Guo's escape to be completed 'perhaps this month': DOJ
Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla suspects Bureau of Immigration (BI) personnel aided former Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo in her illegal departure from the Philippines.
However, the Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission (PAOCC) stated there is no evidence of collusion between BI personnel and Guo for her escape, nor that she went through an immigration office.
PAOCC spokesperson Winston Casio cited testimony that Guo, her alleged sister Shiela, and brother Wesley fled the Philippines using a small boat.
Guo was apprehended in Jakarta by Indonesian police and her return to the Philippines is being processed.
The Department of Justice (DOJ) is close to identifying persons, including possible BI personnel and private individuals, who helped Guo flee.
DOJ Assistant Secretary and Spokesperson Mico Clavano IV stated that there is firm evidence on who helped Guo and that those involved will face charges.
The DOJ expects to complete its investigation into public and private individuals who may have aided Guo's flight possibly within the month.
