DOJ says it needs 1 month prelim probe in flood control mess cases
The Department of Justice (DOJ) aims to complete its preliminary investigation into alleged ghost flood control projects in Bulacan within one month.
DOJ spokesperson Atty. Polo Martinez clarified that they plan to accomplish the preliminary investigation on at least one of the five cases within this period.
Subpoenas have yet to be issued to the respondents, who will be required to file their counter-affidavits.
Prosecutors will determine whether to dismiss the complaints or file cases in court after the preliminary investigation.
The DOJ was deputized by the Office of the Ombudsman to prosecute charges such as graft, malversation, perjury, and falsification of public documents against officials from the DPWH Bulacan First District Engineering Office and contractors.
