DOJ says Zaldy Co statements won't affect flood control probe

The Department of Justice (DOJ) affirmed that revelations by resigned congressman Zaldy Co, implicating President Marcos and former House Speaker Martin Romualdez in budget insertions, will not alter the course of its ongoing investigation into flood control projects.

DOJ spokesperson Polo Martinez stated that Co's statements will undergo routine evidentiary procedures before being considered admissible.

Martinez also mentioned that the investigation has 60 days to terminate and accomplish the preliminary investigation from November 15, 2025.

In his videos, Co claimed that P100 billion worth of projects were inserted into the 2025 national budget during the bicameral conference, and alleged that President Marcos received a quarter of this amount as kickbacks.

The DOJ has officially commenced its preliminary investigation into five flood control projects in Bulacan, specifically targeting projects in Balagtas and Pandi implemented by the DPWH-Bulacan first district engineering office.

Over 20 dismissed DPWH-Bulacan officials and several private contractors are named as respondents in the investigation.
