DOH verifying suspected 3rd nCoV case

The Department of Health (DOH) is currently verifying a suspected third case of the novel coronavirus (nCoV) in the Philippines, while the confirmed cases remain at two, including one death.

Health Secretary Francisco Duque III confirmed the existence of a case under verification but deferred official reporting until after a cabinet meeting.

The DOH reported that the number of persons under investigation (PUIs) for nCoV infection nationwide has increased to 105 as of Tuesday.

This is an increase from the 80 PUIs reported the previous day, with new cases identified across eight different regions of the country.

Of the 105 PUIs, 67 are currently admitted and isolated, while 10 have been discharged but remain under close monitoring.

The increase in PUIs is attributed to the ongoing contact tracing efforts by the DOH Epidemiology Bureau.
