DOH reports 5,867 new COVID-19 cases

The Department of Health (DOH) reported 5,867 new COVID-19 cases on Tuesday, bringing the total active cases to 86,200.

A total of 620 more patients recovered from the coronavirus disease 2019, pushing the total number of recoveries nationwide to 578,461.

The country also recorded 20 new deaths, bringing the total death toll to 12,992.

Of the active cases, 95.4 percent are experiencing mild symptoms, while others are asymptomatic, severe, moderate, or in critical condition.

The DOH noted that there were six duplicates removed from the total case count, and of these, one recovered case has been removed.

Moreover, eight cases that were previously tagged as recovered were reclassified as deaths after final validation.

On March 23, 15.4 percent of 33,719 who were tested turned out positive for Covid-19.
